Duke Caregiver Community Event
–
This in-person event features concurrent education sessions for general attendees and a special track of educational sessions for professionals. Lunch is included for all. Our conference will inform you about a variety of support options that can assist you in your caregiving journey from Duke Health and in the community. Join us on September 7, 2023, at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham, North Carolina.

The Veterans Resource Fair and Stand Down in Durham will provide an informative, respectful, free and fitting event to all in Durham County who served our nation through any military service at any time in any location and has need of services, support or assistance.
Areas of Focus
Basic services related to health concerns Dental, Vision, Vaccines, etc.
Employment and training opportunities
Promotion of self-sufficiency
Housing support
Trauma response
Legal services – Legal Aid
Food security – Also to include free meal at the event
VA Benefits – Connecting with local Veteran Service Officers and learning about benefits available through the Veterans Benefits Administration (information only)
Suicide prevention
Free items that are donated prior to the event

This year’s theme for Pride is “GIVE THEM THEIR FLOWERS" -- as the subtitle describes, we offer honor and gratitude for the courage and leadership of our trans communities, particularly our Black and brown trans women and non-binary folks. Our events this year will provide opportunities for us to center and celebrate members of the LGBTQ+ community who boldly certify our public standards for human dignity, all while facing physical violence, hateful legislation, and other harmful experiences. We intend to commemorate our ancestors who sowed past seeds that still bear fruit today and to pay tribute to the people who help us be our best selves now, embodying our highest values and greatest visions for a more whole, safe, and liberated Durham, North Carolina.
