Biomarker Core

The Biomarker Core’s objective is to collect conventional and novel biomarkers in biofluids (blood and cerebrospinal fluid), brain images (PET, MRI) and other forms of imaging (e.g. retinal imaging) from study participant groups.

The collected biomarkers are then analyzed by the Core’s team and standardized for use in relevant Alzheimer’s disease (AD) research projects affiliated with the ADRC. All biomarker data is stored by the Data Core in the ARENA Gateway

Beyond procuring and analyzing biomarker data, the Biomarker Core also provides resources to assist and train ADRC researchers who are studying the underlying age-related causes of AD.

In the Know…

Assays currently being run on ADRC samples (or available at DMPI to run on ADRC samples): CSF abeta40 and 42, tau & p-tau-181p (and plasma abeta 40 and 42 & p-tau-181p) on the Fujirebio Lumipulse platform; Quanterix HD-X platform multiplex assays for 1) NfL and GFAP; 2) Tau, NfL, UCH-L1, GFAP; and 3) Abeta40, Abeta42, GFAP, NfL
