Study Team Contact

My friend/spouse wants to be in the study – can they join?

The study is still enrolling – those interested in the study should contact the study team by emailing ADRC@duke.edu. Please include information about age, gender, race and city or town of residence.

This is a longitudinal study. How long do I stay in it?

The study will continue for many years to come. Individual participants in the older cohort (those ages 45-80 years of age at enrollment) stay in the study for as long as they wish to – hopefully for the rest of their lives!

What is the benefit of participating every year? How does my information help other people?

All participants, whether they have a diagnosis or do not, contribute to the understanding of changes that take place in our bodies as we age. The longer participants stay in the study, the more they are contributing. We hope to learn more about these changes and how they impact or even predict Alzheimer’s disease incidence later in life.

How do I find out results from this study?

We share as much as we can with participants who wish to know their results (those who do not are still contributing – there is no requirement that results be shared). Results are returned during the Biomarker Results visit that takes place via videoconference. It’s important to note that direct feedback is NOT shared during any other study visits.
