Nine out of ten U.S. neurologists have Aduhelm efficacy doubts
Recent article out in Drug Discovery & Development quotes our Internal Advisory Committee Chair, Dr. Doraiswamy
By Brian Buntz
A recent physician survey found that 89% of neurologists in the U.S. have concerns about the efficacy of the controversial Alzheimer’s drug Aduhelm (aducanumab) from Biogen and Eisai Co. Nearly as many — 87% — were concerned about the drug’s safety profile. The survey from the physician social media network Sermo (New York City) asked more than 50 neurologists about their view of the drug, which has failed to find widespread use, generating just $3 million in 2021. Only 11% of the neurologists surveyed reported prescribing the drug.
An integrated genome and phenome-wide association study approach to understanding Alzheimer’s disease predisposition
Duke/UNC ADRC Research Education Component Core lead, Dr. Kyle Walsh, and first author Archita Khaire, have a newly accepted manuscript in-press at Neurobiology of Aging. Congratulations to you both on this important work!
Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified common single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that increase late-onset Alzheimer’s disease (LOAD) risk.
